Revitalization and Regenerative Endodontics

Regenerative endodontic treatments are next-generation treatments. Recent scientific advances in material technology, molecular biology and regenerative medicine have convinced dentists to apply these technologies to modern endodontology.

This course will review and discuss the biological bases of pulp regeneration, current clinical protocols of regenerative endodontic treatments and clinical cases.

Learning Objectives
  • Evidence based regenerative endodontics
  • Tissue engineering of the dentine-pulp complex
  • Cell homing, cell-based and cell free approaches
  • Regenerative endodontic procedures of immature and mature teeth
  • Blood clot and platelet concentrates (PRF, CGF); rich source of autologous cytokines and growth factors
  • Clinical key elements for regenerative treatments:
    • Considerations and concepts of case selection
    • Root canal instrumentation
    • Irrigation and disinfection
    • Application of blood clot and platelet concentrates
    • Biomaterials
*Each attendee will have the opportunity to do revitalization treatment of immature and mature teeth on extracted teeth model.
Tuğba Türk

Dr. Tugba Turk is an Associate Professor at the Department of Endodontology, Ege University, School of Dentistry, Izmir, Turkey. She is also lecturer at University of Rome, La Sapienza, Dental School, Italy.

She received her DDS degree from the Ege University where she also completed her Ph.D. and received an associate professor degree in 2017.

As a full-time faculty member, Dr Turk is involved with undergraduate and graduate teaching, and she supervises Ph.D. students. She has published several articles, received several awards for her scientific studies and has presented lectures both nationally and internationally. She is a member of the European Society of Endodontology, The Turkish Endodontic Society and The Society of Stem Cell and Cellular Treatments.

Dr. Turk’s research interests include minimal invasive endodontics, regenerative endodontics, dental stem cells, tissue engineering, and scanning electron microscopy. She actively performs clinical regenerative endodontic therapies involving a large number of patients.
